How to order this book

No medieval emphasis. Humans have been burying their dead for the past fifty thousand years. Their monuments and grave good have been studied by antiquarians for centuries, but recent advances in medicine and science are now being used to investigate the human remains themselves, revealing new details about the people and the communities to which they belonged. Modern methods of forensic anthropology can determine the age of the skeleton as well as its sex, stature and some aspects of its ancestry. New developments in biochemistry and molecular biology make it possible to extract DNA and proteins from archaeological bone, and these molecules can be used in investigations of the origins and diversity of past populations. In this book Andrew Chamberlain explores and evaluates these and other exciting new perspectives in the study of human skeletons.
