Something
for nothing!
To join
the mailing
list, just send a request to the email link above
To be removed at any
time, simply
send an email request to the same address.
You need to
make a specific request to be added to the
mailing list. Please don't send a blank email, as this will usually be
rejected by spam filters.
When your
email is received,
you will be sent a confirmation that you've been added to the mailing
list
(but it's not an automated service,
so you won't receive an immediate acknowledgement). If you don't get a
reply within a few days, either your email or my reply has gone astray.
This is a
free service and you can unsubscribe at any time by sending an email to
medievalbookshop.
However, the normal terms and conditions
will
apply if you decide to place an order.
You will
receive:
- A
notification when each month's new
stock list is ready - this lets you see newly catalogued books,
before they are added to the public section of the web site. You will
be sent a link by email, which will take you to a special subscriber
section of the web site. If any new subject
pages have been added to the site, the email will also include
links for these;
- and
maybe the occasional promotional
mailout (about books or items likely to be of interest to
medievalbookshop
customers). Such mailouts may be on behalf of other companies, but your
email address and other details will not be passed on to them - the
address list is not available for sale to third parties.
All lists will
be sent to
the email address in your message header if you do not specify a
different
one.
Medievalbookshop
also
offers a few unused bargains. New
titles
are included in the general lists, but the complete list is updated
monthly on this web
site,
so it is not notified to subscribers on a regular basis.
All lists
are sent out
as bulk emails with the recipient list hidden, so you may need to check
with your internet service provider about how you can make sure they
reach
you (AOL in particular has recently started rejecting this kind of
email).
Many providers will intercept and delete such emails as a matter of
policy
- this might particularly apply if you are using a work address to
receive
them.
If you
don't seem to
be receiving anything, you can check the current lists via the used
books index page: these are usually posted at the beginning of each
month, a few days after
they have been notified to subscribers.
Third
party communications
Occasionally
mailouts
are made on a third party's behalf, but the mailing list itself is not
made
available
to such parties: examples have included notification of a new dialect
discussion
group, and an invitation to make offers for private sale of a
collectable book. Publishers and similar commercial concerns are
welcome to enquire about making mailouts that may be of interest to
medievalbookshop's customers.
The
medievalbookshop
mailing list is maintained for internal use only, and is not for sale
to
third parties. If this policy changes in the future, an email will be
sent
to everyone on the list asking whether they wish to continue receiving
emails from medievalbookshop.
Data
protection:
Your email
address will
be stored digitally and you will be sent all of medievalbookshop's
mailouts
as outlined above.
No other
information
is needed and you will not be asked for any until you want to place an
order, but you're welcome to add other details if you wish to (your
special
interests, wants lists, etc). Printed mailouts are not issued, so you
don't
need to give your postal address. Any information you supply will be
treated
as confidential, unless you request otherwise (see the privacy
policy page for details). You will only be added to the mailing
list
if you specifically request to be - you won't be added just for
contacting
medievalbookshop.
"Email
spoofing"
Emails from
medievalbookshop
will never ask you for passwords, access codes, credit card or PIN
numbers,
or similar confidential information (not even when you make a
purchase),
so please do not respond to any email that asks for such details. The
regular
bulk mailout lists never have attachments, though responses to
individual
enquiries may do so if appropriate.
You will
only be asked
for personal information if you decide to make a purchase from
medievalbookshop,
and then it will only for details that are necessary to process the
transaction
and deliver goods to you, such as your delivery address. Please use the
contact links at the top of this page to seek confirmation of any
suspicious
requests for information: if an email has no conceivable interest for a
medievalist, then it's probably not genuinely from medievalbookshop.
