Contact
You can use the contact
links at the
top of this page at any time to send your queries or comments.
Please bear in mind
medievalbookshop
is not a full-time business, so the response to emails may not be same
day.
Page design
- Pages are designed
with tables but without
frames so as to work with most current browsers and operating systems.
- Many pages on this
site now used graphics: these are usually in the form of a scan showing
the item offered for sale. In such cases text is included with the
graphic for use by adaptive technology devices. However, pages linking
to third party sites such as Amazon and Paypal
are likely to incorporate graphics alongside their links.
- The site uses server
side includes for repetitive elements, and
javascript
for the scroll bar links in the attic.
If
your computer has difficulty with any page, please send details using
either
of the contact links at the top of this page.
Legibility
- You can use your
browser's "Increase
Font Size" command under the "View" menu if you have difficulty reading
the text.
- Where PDF files
are
used, they only
repeat text that is also available in HTML pages on this site; as these
files can be viewed at up to 1600% of actual size, they should present
no problems with legibility.
- You can print
pages
out for easier reference.
If you you have a laser printer and you turn off the "Print
backgrounds"
command in your browser's printing settings, the page should print out
as black text on a white background.
- By default the
text on this site uses the
Verdana font, which was designed specifically for internet use with
on-screen
legibility in mind. You can use your browser's preferences to override
this, and to use any fonts you prefer for display.
Navigation
Pages use a uniform colour
scheme and
format, with navigation links to the right-hand side of the screen on a
green background. The page backgrounds are set to pale blue on
policy
pages, white on the books for sale pages, and pale yellow on the
information
pages, all of which should allow sufficient contrast for legibility.
The
main text is set as black, while navigation links are set to take on
your
browser's default settings. There is no coding used to prevent you
setting
your own colour preferences on text and links. Most third party links
are
coded to open in a new window, leaving the medievalbookshop window
available
in the background.
The booklist pages in
the attic use
scroll bars for navigation, and these are written using javascript. If
you have java capabilities turned off in your browser, you can still
navigate
these pages using the links hard-coded at the bottom of every booklist
page.
Language
The medievalbookshop web
site and all
of its mailouts and communications are written in UK English. Due to
the
high cost of translation work, it is not possible to
correspond
in other languages.
Technical
difficulties
You can get in contact
using the email
link at the top of this page to send full details of the problem. This
isn't a 24-hour service, but you will get a response as soon your email
is received. Please check first to ensure that the problem is not being
caused at your ISP or by any settings on your own computer. Bear in
mind
that web traffic may be especially heavy at certain times of day,
either
at your ISP or worldwide, and this may slow down reception on your
PC.
If you are not receiving replies from medievalbookshop, please check
the
spelling of the email address you are using. Technical difficulties do
sometimes prevent successful email communication with certain
addresses,
so you are welcome to use the conventional mail link at the top of this
page.
